kinfolk

last week harriet and i trekked up to castlemaine to attend a kinfolk dinner hosted by katie and greg at butterland, the converted butter factory in newstead. it was a fun night: the place looked beautiful, the food was great and we met some really lovely people. there was also a tiny dog. which was pretty great too.

mt martha weekend

the last week has been unbearably hot - 6 days of weather above 30. our house has next to no insulation so whatever it is outside, it's pretty much the same inside which means no sleep and grumps.

so this weekend pete, harriet, alex and i all escaped down to my parent's house in mount martha. i have never seen the beach so perfect and i couldn't help taking my phone into the water to take some photos. i'm pretty sure everybody was waiting for me to drop it but it survived.

finishing up the day with champagne and oysters in the shed was not a bad finish to a pretty super day.

*update: while i was careful enough not to drop my iphone in the water at the beach - the next day i knocked it off my desk and smashed the screen. useless.

tramways hotel

pete and i had dinner with mum and dad at the tramways hotel in north fitzroy on sunday night. it's a great pub - tasty burgers and it's beautifully fitted out. we did a bit of wedding brainstorming and took a wander over to edinburgh gardens to scout some locations.

kyneton

pete and i took a drive yesterday out to kyneton in the macedon ranges. it's such a cute town - great food, old bluestones, a couple of markets. it seems like the kind of town where you could relocate from melbourne and not miss out on too many of the things that make city life great. they've even got a music festival coming up! we stopped off at hanging rock winery on the way home to restock our dwindling supplies. i'm trying to drink less beer so our wine rack is looking pretty empty at the moment...
